On Thursday 9th of June during the annual NBCC event in the Amstel Hotel in Amsterdam, the “UK – NL Trade Facilitation Committee” was presented with the “Stronger Together” Award by Dutch Ambassador for the UK, Karel van Oosterom.

Mrs. Nanette van Schelven, Director General of the Customs Administration of the Netherlands and mrs. Heather Jones, Cabinet Office, received the award. The UK – NL Trade  Facilitation Committee was founded following the example of
the Dutch “Overleg Douane Bedrijfsleven”.

To organize border procedures in a smooth and efficient way, cooperation between responsible authorities at the border, business community and transport sector is of enormous importance.
By being a partner for businesses, Dutch Customs strive to learn from each other and to be transparent. New procedures, regulations or IT-systems are discussed at an early stage and comments and advices from trade are taken into account.

In this way we try to find the right balance between Customs supervision and trade facilitation. With the UK – NL Trade Facilitation Committee, a new platform was created to inform all parties about changes in border procedures and formalities
after Brexit.
